OMGLEE!

OMGLEE!

For quite some time, the the entire nation has been beside themselves with Gleegasm’s galore. As if we didn’t already know. But with next week heading into GaGa territory, I think we need to brace ourselves. As of yesterday, Idina Menzel and Lea Michele’s duet of the broken down (and my personal favorite) version of ‘Poker Face’, as well as the showstopping ‘Bad Romance’ are already available for purchase on iTunes. Not to mention the promo’s showing cast members decked out in GaGa garb…I think America’s love affair with Glee is about to hit a fever pitch.

As for tonight’s episode, I wasn’t blown away by the hyped-up guest star appearance by Broadway wunderkin Neil Patrick Harris, but it did provide for a nice change of scenery. Favorite moment of the episode? Idina Menzel and Lea Michele’s roaring version of ‘I Dreamed  A Dream’ from my all-time favorite Broadway musical, Les Miserables. I could attempt to find the words to express how moved I was by this performance, but I fear I wouldn’t do it justice. So take my word for it.

As an avid Gleek from Day 1 of the show when I heard the first da da da’s of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, I’ve spent the past year accumulating over 80 songs covered by cast members and growing into a dedicated and passionate fan of the show. As such, I’ve taken it upon myself to step into the large shoes of creator Ryan Murphy and inform the general public of which songs I think would most suit future episodes of this groundbreaking show. My list is as follows:

  • I would love to see Rachel belt out Celine Dion’s ‘River Deep, Mountain High.’ The range on this song is incredible and it would fit perfectly into her story line with Finn.
  • A group rendition of The Ting Ting’s ‘That’s Not My Name.’ There are plenty of opportunities for some serious harmonizing and come on, who doesn’t get up and dance when they hear this?
  • I’m dying to hear Mercedes sing ‘Chasing Pavements’ by Adele. No need to pull out the powerhouse vocals for this one, the riffs through the chorus would be more than enough of a highlight on her voice.
  • Other artists I would crawl out of my skin to hear songs of? Coldplay, Jason Mraz, ABBA,  James Taylor or Katy Perry. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that one of my artists makes the list!

Until next week, cute little Gleeks of mine!
